I am a 56 year old lady with a husband and two adult children who have flown the nest.

I had a career in nursing that I gave up to look after our children. We didn’t live near either of our families to help out with childcare. With the shift patterns of nursing and my husbands demanding career, we both agreed that it would be best for our family for me to be a stay at home mum.

This worked well for us all, the children were content, happy and flourished in school and we were secure in the knowledge that our children were being well cared for.

Fast forward twenty seven years and our daughter has finished her degree and developing her career. Our son has an undergraduate and master degree and is currently studying for a professional qualification. My husband has retired from his career as a consultant surgeon, although does work a few sessions a week , which keeps him busy and out of mischief !

We have moved out of our family home and to a new area. We have both thrown ourselves into country living in West Sussex. We have started gardening, and joined in to help at our local vineyard (being paid in booze !). Both of us have made lots of new friends ( together and individually), hubby has joined a new golf club and I’m volunteering at an animal sanctuary less than a 5 minute drive from home.

Sounds pretty idyllic ….. yet somehow I felt discontented.

I realised that whilst caring for everyone else I hadn’t nurtured my own personal development or pursued many of my own interests. I’d put myself last and in essence had been a bit of a people pleaser.

I had some ideas of what I’d like to do and what I could change but wasn’t really sure of how to go about achieving my goals. This is where Dr Munita came to the rescue !

At first, I was a little nervous and quite apprehensive as to what to expect from a life coach. I did feel a bit silly talking about myself and discussing what areas of my life I’d like to enhance. Of course, I needn’t have worried. Dr Munita is the utmost professional and put me at ease straight away. She is confident, kind and compassionate and also most considerate, especially with her gentle way of taking you through your individual and very personal journey. Her approach is extremely thoughtful and at times thought provoking (but that’s the whole point right ?!?! ).

After each session I was given homework. This kept me focused, gave me direction and gave me something to work on or work towards. Dr Munita is a very open, honest and forthright person - qualities that I admire and respect. Her practical yet encouraging guidance most definitely gave me the courage and motivation to take charge of my life. I gave myself a proverbial kick up the backside and accepted that each small step was a step in the right direction.

Since our last session I have started taking golf lessons with a fabulous group of ladies, begun doing a morning yoga routine, joined a gym and even got a job. I can say no without feeling guilty, I don’t have to change my plans to suit others and my life is much more fulfilling. Now I’m much more direct - empowering me to be explicit about what I’d like, rather that beating about the bush. I  feel I am now taking charge of my own life and no longer rely on others for my happiness.

Thanks Dr Munita for your unfaltering positivity, having faith in me and for making me realise that what seems like heated battles between my husband and I, is actually us “fiercely agreeing” with each other, with each of us having a different route yet wanting the same thing together !!!
